THE DOSE – THE JEWELRY DESIGNER EDITION

Stepping into 2011 fabulously, here’s the very first feature of The Dose with jewelry designer, Fabiola Bernard.

Introduction

I am Fabiola Bernard, I reside in The Boogie Down Bronx, NY LOL.  I am originally from La Pearl des Antilles. I was born and raised in Haiti; I lived there for 17 years and then came to the United States to get a better education and get exposed to a broader environment.

I am a lover of art and music.  I am a crafter, artist and Interior/Event Designer. I have a strong passion for art, music, fashion, design, photography, life and nature.

Last but not least, I am the nicest person on earth!!

What are you creatively addicted to? When did you start?

I am at the moment a crafter and jewelry/accessories designer. My main focus is to work as an Event/Interior Designer, which is one of my passions. I love to design and decorate interiors.

I am creatively addicted to my craft, creating new products every day is a must LOL. I create all the time because once I think of something I have to create it right away so the idea doesn’t go away. If I am not around my materials I’ll sketch my idea so I don’t forget it. My brain is always shooting new ideas and I can’t stop creating LOL!

I decided to go further with my creativity by making jewelry and accessories just for fun and I thought of turning it into a business. So I started with www.Younikness.com in November 2010. I offer items that you won’t see anywhere else.  If you like to be different this is the place for you. I am sure that you’ll find something. I am actually working on the spring and summer collection. Please stay tuned!!

Why do you create?

I get inspired pretty much by everything around me.  My mother inspires me, she pretty much taught me a lot. I also inspire myself, as well sometimes.

I love to create, I create because it feels good and it keeps me going. I feel good when I create something and I look back and say WOW!! I did this?! Creating to me is fun, it keeps me at peace.  I create when I am sad, happy and I create in my dreams LOL.

Also growing  up in Haiti we didn’t have electricity all the time  to watch TV or surf the Internet, so I was always doing something, either cooking with my mother, drawing,  sewing , painting or crocheting.  I was  always making something.

Where can people find your work?

You can find my work at https://Younikness.com

Name one thing you would like people to know about you.

I hope you appreciated Fabiola’s story and creativity as much as I did :-)

THE DOSE – THE NATURAL HAIR ENTHUSIAST/PAINTER EDITION

All I can say is that I so appreciate this woman’s creativity - on all levels.  Check out this month’s DOSE with natural hair enthusiast, painter, jewelry maker and overall creative, Toni Daley.

Introduction

I’m Toni. I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. I have a love for natural hair and passion for creating art.

I’m a natural hair vlogger on youtube and love sharing my creative ideas on hair, art and jewelry in my videos.

It’s become a favourite pastime of mine now…I just love connecting with people through the world wide web…it’s amazing the people you can  connect with that you would have never otherwise knew existed.

What are you creatively addicted to? When did you start?

Right now I’m addicted to creating images of natural haired beauties in my paintings.

I’ve been addicted to painting for a while,  I started when I was about 13 years old but as I’ve gotten older, matured and my interests evolved so did my art.

 What inspires you?

I create because…I think I have to.  I get an image in my head that may have been inspired by something or someone and I just have the need to get it out….bring it to life.  At this point in my life I am mainly inspired by natural afro textured hair.

During my journey I’ve gained such a new found love and appreciation for the beauty that we possess naturally and are often too afraid to show that I just want to show it in every form I can!

My inspiration, however can change from day to day or even minute to minute.

Where can people find your work?

I have an online picture album at http://www.fotki.com/tonidaley and I have an  online store where I sell many of the things I create at http://www.afrodisiacs.etsy.com and of course, youtube at  http://www.youtube.com/tonidaley80

I hope you all fell in love like I did.

THANKS FOR THE DOSE OF CREATIVITY!
